President Putin wants more men in the Russian army. He asks 160,000 men to join. These men are between 18 and 30 years old. This is the most men called since 2011. Russia wants a bigger army because of the war in Ukraine.

Some men will not go to Ukraine. But some men went to Ukraine before. The war is still going on. Russia and Ukraine are fighting. Many people in Ukraine have no electricity because of the war. Russia also says they took a village in Ukraine.

Russia calls men to join the army two times a year. They also get soldiers from other places. Russia lost many soldiers in the war. Russia wants more soldiers because they feel there is a big danger. Finland and Sweden joined Nato because of the war. Finland will spend more money on defense.
